Bringing Panamanian Craftsmanship to the U.S.: The Story of Nido Shop USA

At Nido Shop, we’ve always been passionate about showcasing the beauty and resilience of Panamanian Indigenous art through fashion. Now, we’re excited to announce that Nido Shop USA is here, offering an exclusive selection of handcrafted pieces that celebrate the Guna and Ngäbe Bugle traditions in a way that’s rarely seen outside of Panama.

 Why the U.S.?

As global interest in sustainable fashion and cultural preservation grows, we saw an opportunity to share the richness of Panamanian artistry with a wider audience. By opening Nido Shop USA, we’re bridging two worlds: the artisans in remote regions of Panama who pour their history and craftsmanship into each piece, and conscious consumers in the U.S. who seek meaningful, unique fashion that tells a story.

 The Artistry Behind Every Piece

Each piece you see in Nido Shop USA has a story. Our collections feature molas (traditional Guna textile art) and intricate embroidery inspired by Ngäbe Bugle designs. But these aren’t just aesthetic choices—they are symbols of heritage and identity. Our collaboration with Indigenous artisans ensures that each design remains true to its cultural roots, while evolving in ways that appeal to today’s fashion lovers.

Unlike many mass-produced items, these handcrafted pieces vary slightly from one to the next, giving each item a one-of-a-kind quality. It’s this individuality that resonates deeply with our mission, as we believe every garment should feel as unique as the person wearing it.

The Challenges and Rewards of Expansion

Bringing Nido Shop to the U.S. has been both a challenging and rewarding journey. Logistically, shipping costs and production demands in the U.S. market present a significant hurdle. However, we are committed to fair pricing that reflects the skill and dedication behind each piece, and we hope our U.S. audience sees the value in supporting ethically sourced, sustainable fashion.

Another challenge we’ve embraced is educating the market. Not everyone is familiar with the Guna or Ngäbe Bugle people or the depth of meaning behind their art. This is why we prioritize storytelling—not only to honor the artisans but to invite customers to connect with a part of the world that may be new to them.

Our Vision for Nido Shop USA

Our goal is to create a sustainable presence in the U.S. where Indigenous Panamanian art can flourish. With Nido Shop USA, we envision a marketplace that respects tradition, supports artisans, and fosters cross-cultural appreciation. We’re not only introducing products but building a bridge between cultures, one handmade piece at a time.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Whether you’re here for a vibrant mola-embroidered tunic or a unique Ngäbe-inspired caftan, know that each purchase supports a network of skilled artisans and helps keep Panamanian cultural heritage alive.

Explore our U.S. collection and join us in celebrating the artistry of Panama. Together, we can make a difference—one stitch at a time.
